Emily Conklin
Network and Public Programs Manager

Emily Conklin is the Network and Public Programs Manager at Van Alen Institute. She spearheads all public programming at 303 Bond Street, activating exhibitions, panels, and gatherings for the broader Van Alen community. She is a creative storyteller, having worked as a writer, editor, and creative director in New York for more than 10 years. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Architectural History from NYU and a Master’s of Science in Historic Preservation from Columbia GSAPP.
Emily works as a translator, connecting designers and visual thinkers with resources and new audiences. She specializes in systems-based thinking to solve problems and take ideas from the drawing board to the real world, bringing people and diverse stakeholders together to make things happen. Through her studio practice, Tiny Cutlery, she has planned, produced, and hosted dozens of events for arts organizations across NYC. Her writing and criticism can be found in The Architect’s Newspaper, The Brooklyn Rail, New York Review of Architecture, and Surface, among other publications.
