Film Screening: Changing Lanes

Van Alen Institute hosts AIA Brooklyn for a screening and discussion of Changing Lanes, a riveting documentary tracking the grassroots campaign to transform McGuinness Boulevard in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The film moves across NYC’s street safety landscape, with appearances by David Byrne, former DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, and Pulitzer-winning journalist Henry Grabar.
Following the screening, hear from five panelists pushing the edge of what public space can be:

- Debra Ack and Boris Santos, advocates reimagining the public realm in East New York
- Bronwyn Breitner, architect and lead force behind Make McGuinness Safe
- Jim Burke, Co-Founder, 34th Ave Open Streets Coalition and partner for Van Alen initiative Design Sprints
