Hyperakt is a purpose-driven design and innovation studio that elevates human dignity and ignites curiosity. Since 2001, co-founders Julia Zeltser and Deroy Peraza, along with the Hyperakt team, have been partnering with change-makers moving society forward.
We are a team of change makers, activists and believers. The sum of our parts makes us stronger, both in who we are and what we do. Our work is dedicated to designing for impact and inclusivity. The world we are building is one where free expression, equity and sustainability lead the way. Although change takes time, our work continues to pioneer equal opportunities, visibility and impact. Everything we do, we do from a place of advocating for the change we want to see in the world. From the inside out, our team and our clients create new possibilities in how we design for social change & justice.
These planter barricades are movable, modular, and allow for different materials to be used in construction. The planters on top of the barriers are for beautification but can also be used as detachable trash bins. The frame can be covered using polycarbonate, extrude metal, and wrapped fabric. A modular lighting strip can also be included for nighttime dining.

This community building project is a temporary modular structure to showcase artwork by local artists, educational institutions, and other community members. This working group proposed that artworks could be themed to reflect the artist’s experience during COVID-19, how they coped with quarantine, and what message can they share from that experience.
Each piece is inserted into a picture frame that rotates around a rod or a dowel. The artwork can be placed on one side with its description on the other side. The frames collectively create a mosaic wall rotating to create a dynamic rhythm. The materials required for the project are low-cost and easily acquired.
