Sylvia Riveros

Community-Engaged Artist

Sylvia Riveros is a Colombian-born, Brooklyn-based community-engaged artist, sociologist, and cultural organizer. Her interdisciplinary work explores social and climate justice through photography, film, drawing, writing, and public art. With over eight years of experience, she designs community-rooted workshops and visual projects grounded in ecofeminism and participatory research. Recent works include Toñita’s NYC, a photo series documenting care and solidarity at the Caribbean Social Club, and Remember, Recognize, and Recover, winner of the Colombian Ministry of Culture award. Sylvia holds an MA in Experimental Humanities & Social Engagement from NYU, and certifications in photography and visual narrative from Mexico and Colombia.
