Janeen Schiff is Archivist at Van Alen Institute, where she oversees the processing, organization, and accessibility of Van Alen’s archival collections. She develops systems and practices that expand public and institutional access to Van Alen’s century-plus history, ensuring its continued relevance, discoverability, and use for future generations of researchers, practitioners, and the public.
Throughout her career, Janeen has held archival roles at Pace Gallery, CENTRO Center for Puerto Rican Studies, Dia Art Foundation, and New Museum of Contemporary Art, where she contributed to the creation, preservation, and organization of collections and archive facilities while prioritizing the role of access and outreach to support legacy projects. Her work also reflects a sustained commitment to archival preservation, providing equitable access, and the stewardship of cultural memory.
