As an architect and project manager, Jasper Tonk has been integral to the delivery of several complex public and commercial office buildings across the Mecanoo portfolio. Most notably the Delft Municipal Office and Train Station and the Zaans Medical Centre. He is currently working on the New York Public Library as a Design Manager serving as day-to-day client contact and link between Mecanoo, the local architect and consultants.
The projects by Mecanoo range from theatres, museums and libraries to neighbourhoods, housing and parks. Each design is founded on observation of people, location, culture and climate. The analysis amounts to designs that respond to current needs, yet which are also prepared for (un)predictable change.
Having graduated from the Delft University of Technology, Jasper spent part of his studies abroad at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. He joined Mecanoo in 2005, became an Associate Architect in 2013. Jasper leads Mecanoo’s presence in New York and is responsible for promoting Mecanoo throughout the East Coast.
