Diana Araujo

Associate Director of Programs

Diana is an architect and preservationist with experience in participatory design, urban planning, and heritage management.

Before joining Van Alen, Diana worked internationally as a heritage consultant and as the Director of Strategic Management for the Metropolitan Institute of Heritage (IMP) in Quito, Ecuador. At IMP, she led projects to re-think heritage as a tool for social and economic development and worked with local and international allies to advance planning and preservation strategies using a community-based approach.

After joining Van Alen, Diana has project managed community-center programs including Neighborhoods Now and Lucid. Through her work she has focused on expanding the support required for community-led projects  and impact evaluation. As the current Associate Director of programs, she’s working on program development, institutional evaluation, and systems thinking across all departments.
