Hauke joined BuroHappold as Managing Director for Europe in January 2018. Before starting at BuroHappold, he worked as a Principal at Thornton Tomasetti, leading the US facade engineering team and special structures group. Prior to which Hauke was a Director at Knippers Helbig where he led a newly established branch in New York from 2009 – 2014.
After earning his Master of Arts degree in architecture at the ETH Zürich in 2006, his career took him to Switzerland, where he worked as an architect at Herzog & de Meuron in Basel and at Gigon/Guyer in Zurich, from 2006 – 2009.
Hauke began his business career in 2002 as a lead structural engineer at Schlaich Bergermann und Partner in Stuttgart, Germany after graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Braunschweig with a Master of Science degree in civil engineering. Here he initiated and directed the spatial geometry and structures group.
He taught architecture and structural design at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany and at other renowned universities and institutes in Europe as well as the United States, from 1998-2014. He has authored and co-authored a number of academic articles.
