Project Manager, Programs
Manon is an urbanist with a background in participatory design, research, and community organizing. In her work, she draws on interdisciplinary and collaborative practices to co-create new strategies, tools, and processes for just cities. Her practice is firmly rooted in the belief that people most directly impacted by urban injustice are expert problem-solvers equipped to imagine and design creative solutions.
Some of her recent projects have included working on an all-women tech team to develop Unlock NYC, a mobile-based app to report housing discrimination in New York; co-founding the NYC chapter of the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, a data visualization and storytelling collective documenting the housing crisis; and producing a documentary film on the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and its impact on surrounding neighborhoods. At Van Alen, she hopes to continue working closely with communities, organizers, designers, and activists to imagine and build radically inclusive cities. She earned her B.A. in Urban Studies and Photography from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. in Design & Urban Ecologies from Parsons School of Design.
