Project Manager, Programs
Fareen Islam is Project Manager, Programs at Van Alen Institute.
She has worked extensively with community organizations, public agencies, and philanthropic donors to develop programming that reflects community narratives in public space.
Prior to joining the Van Alen team, Fareen was the Deputy Director at ArtBridge Projects, a public arts organization based in NYC, where she led the pilot and expansion of Bridging the Divide, an artist fellowship program developed in partnership with New York City Housing Authority and the Department of Cultural Affairs. Fareen graduated from Pratt Institute with an M.S. in Urban Placemaking & Management and from Stony Brook University’s B.A. Environmental Design, Policy, & Planning program. She currently sits on the advisory council for the Fund for Public Housing.
