Missing

Fellowship Term: 2008-2009
Project Area:

“Missing” is a multi-sited artwork dedicated to bringing awareness to the current crisis surrounding biodiversity and habitat loss. Through various art mediums – an interactive video installation at select scientific institutions, a video billboard launched globally on Earth Day 2010, a website, and a book – it will show us what is being lost in terms of habitat and species, posing ways of thinking about what is missing that will connect art with science and offering a new perspective on this present sixth extinction crisis.

Missing will make the critical link between global warming concerns and habitat protection: if 20% of global warming emissions is caused by deforestation, then Missing will integrally link these issues by asking the question: Can we save two birds with one tree? The project will create a shared sense of purpose between these two concerns, so that we cannot think of energy and our carbon footprints without also measuring our impact in terms of biodiversity and habitat protection.

Missing is a wake up call and a call to action. More information coming soon.
