FlyNY: An International Kite Design Competition and Flying Event
Van Alen Institute is pleased to announce FlyNY, a kite design competition and flying event created by architects Aurelie Paradiso, Hannah Purdy, and Victoria Walsh, recipients of a 2008-2009 New York State Council on the Arts Independent Projects grant through Van Alen Institute's fiscal sponsorship. The competition is open to the international design community as well as families, students, and citizens throughout New York City. Participants will present original designs at the first official kite flying event at Riverside Park's Pier I on Saturday, May 9, 2009, where a panel of judges will select distinguished designs for a public exhibition and auction.
