Winning Submission: As an initial step in Coney Island's ongoing regeneration, the CIDC will work with the winning team or individual to determine the feasibility of the proposed pavilion, and work with other relevant agencies towards implementation of the project.

In receiving the New York Prize, the winning (first place*) team or individual will agree to work with Van Alen Institute to develop a program before the end of 2005, possibly including a publication or an exhibition, that further amplifies the goals of the competition to demonstrate the role of powerful design in improving the city.

Public Exhibition and Copyright: Van Alen Institute and the CIDC plan to hold an exhibition of work submitted in the competition following the jury. Entrants will be notified of any public exhibitions of their work through correspondence with the registered contact. In entering the design competition, entrants grant Van Alen Institute and the CIDC unrestricted license to exercise the contestants' rights regarding their design submissions including, but not limited to, reproduction, preparation of derivative works and distribution of copies of the design submission, and the right to authorize such use by others.

Return of Entries: Van Alen Institute and the CIDC shall retain ownership of all prize-winning design submissions. Entries will not be returned, and Van Alen Institute and the CIDC assume no responsibility for damaged or lost competition entries.  Competitors are advised to make record copies of their design solutions prior to submitting them.

Announcement, Displays and Publication of Results: By entering the competition, the registrant and all team members recognize that the competition’s program is the intellectual property of Van Alen Institute and the CIDC, and agree to credit the two organizations by name in any subsequent exhibition or publication of the project. Entrants will be credited on all online and print material that will be published by the organizers of the competition.
