Presentation Requirements

Submissions should provide the jurors with a clear understanding of the author's design concept. The required drawings are intended to communicate both technical information about the project as well as an experiential sense of the finished structure.

Format: All entrants are required to submit their project on only one 30" x 40" (0.762 x 1.016 meters) sturdy board with the 30" side oriented vertically (landscape format). The board should have a maximum thickness of ½", and weigh no more than 5 pounds. Foam core boards are suggested. The back and the front of the competition board must be free of screws and other projections that might damage other entries when the boards are stored or transported.  The sponsors will review all entries for compliance with the submission and presentation requirements and will determine whether boards may be presented to the jury.  The sponsors' decision is at their discretion and is final. The Jury will not be shown, and will not review, any material beyond the single board submission.

Drawings & statements: Every entry regardless of concept or strategy must include the following drawings and renderings:

  • one plan of the site showing the relationship between the proposed design and existing features of the site at an approximate scale of 1"=100'
  • detailed plan/s of the proposed pavilion at 1"=8'
  • one section, at 1"=4', through the proposed structure, illustrating its relationship to the boardwalk and adjacent parking lot levels
  • at least one three-dimensional rendering and/or photomontage showing the proposed intervention in its context
  • at least one detail (construction) section at 1"=2'

The following drawings may be added to the presentation at the discretion of the entrants:

  • elevations at 1"=8' or 1"=4'
  • any additional drawings, sections, elevations, perspectives or imagery that the entrant feels are required to communicate the design concept.

A written statement of no more than 250 words is to be included as part of the submission. The statement should be integrated into the overall composition of the presentation board and should serve to clarify the design concept.

CD: Each submission must be accompanied by a CD that will include either the full presentation format (at minimum 150 dpi), or all individual drawings and renderings (at minimum 150 dpi) included within the presentation board. All graphics and text provided should be in PC-compatible format.
